Hollister Ranch Preserve

The Chumash people settled in the area of present day Hollister Ranch Reserve over 9,000 years ago and revered the land for the beautiful coastline and natural wonders. Over time, ownership of the land changed hands, and in 1970 Hollister Ranch was developed with a commitment to stewardship and sustainability to ensure preservation of the unique ecosystems. The Chumash culture and resources at Hollister Ranch have remained intact, and efforts are made to respect and protect their heritage. Today, the ranch remains a private land holding with cattle ranching as the primary agricultural activity, and sustainability and preservation are the core principles guiding its operations.
